The state Capital of Rio Grande do Norte. Situated on the
Brazilian northeastern coast under the Equatorial line. It
is the first city to be reached from Africa and Europe. Natal
was founded by the Portuguese navigators in the Cristimas
Day of 1599 ("Natal" means Christimas Day). Known in the history
as the place in the South America where first landed Mermoz,
Lindberg and Saint-Exupery. Very important American air base
during the Second World War. Natural stop for the sailors
heading to the Caribbean sea. Population of about 600.000
inhab. Magnificient landscape of white sand and long beaches;
gigantic sand dunes involving sweetwater lakes and nice coconut
